Surveillance Video

Anyone here ever edited surveillance video in Vegas? I want to render a timelapse video of a building under construction. We have a DV-R running 24/7.

The files appear to be in .avi format, and run in real time. Windows Media Player will play them, but I get a message" video stream attributes could not be determined" .

I've sent out an email request to determine the DV-R's manufacturer's specs. I am using Vegas Pro 8 on a beefy machine, running Vista Ultimate.

I'm in a bit of a time crunch [who isn't on these projects? :-)], so any preliminary suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!
PB

Download gspot and see what is in that avi container, then download the appropriate codec based on what it tells you.

If all else fails bump the DVR video to tape and bring it in that way.

Indeed... I'm guessing it's going to be mp4 based, due to fairly static footage and need to min size over time.

I've had good success using FDM(free download manager) to convert files such as these.

Hope that helps
