SVP11 - customer reviews - what is the truth?

Hi,

In my opinion something strange is going on in the VP11 customer reviews section! Has anyone else noticed? I did some simple statistics, here are some facts:

1. The reviews were introduced officially in this forum the 6th Dec 2011. However, the first entry is dated one day before. A typo?

2. During the first 80 days there were only 20 entries (0,25 entries/day average), the average rating (stars) was 2,69. Out of these 20 persons 9 recommends Vegas, 11 recommends not. Most comments are quite harsh.

3. From the 23rd to 27th Feb 2012 (during 5 days) there are suddenly 126 entries (25,2 entries/day average, a huge hundredfold increase). During these 5 days the average rating (stars) jumps to 4,56! Out of 126 persons, 116 recommends, 10 does not. In other words - during these 5 days suddenly 92% of the persons recommends the software (before - during the former 80 days - only 55% recommended it). Almost every comment is uttermost positive, praising the stability of the product.

4. The last bug fix (builds 594/595) is released the 28th of Feb 2012. Since that day there is not a SINGLE new entry in the customer reviews list (at the writing date of this post).

See below a graph of the cumulative recommends/does not recommend statistics (one pic tells more than...). Recommend adds one, does not subtracts one from the running sum:

Please note that the release of build 594/595 occurred one day AFTER the last entry in this table. So - during the first 80 days about 40+ percent recommended this product, now suddenly during a just few days the figure has jumped to 89%. Don't get me wrong, I am happy if Vegas works so well for so many people. However, I would like to get an answer to the following questions:

1. What happened the 23th Feb that started a sudden storm of superlative posts to the customer reviews section?

2. Why did this sudden flow of comments stop a day before the latest build release (594/595), and since then - nothing? This latest bug fix would probably explain some of this behaviour, since it seems to fix many of the pending problems, albeit not all.

Very strange...Normal statistics and randomness of the real world does not explain what is happening. I suspect a little the SCS's honesty here. But hey - aren't all methods allowed in war, love and marketing...

Cheers,

Christian

PS: Again, my main interest is that SCS gets the bugs ironed out, so that all the praise is earned and VP is brought back to the same reliable lever as VP6 was!

an email arrived here on 24th (Ostraya), which is probably still 23rd in Amerka, inviting reviews in exchange for a chance to win a Sony camera.... so I imagine some are due to avarice and greed...?

Hi ChristoC,

hmm... now I get it, I missed that invitation, but it explains a lot of the latest behaviour in the review forum. A lure helps catching the fish...

Probably you cannot be too critical in such a review - if you want really hold on to your change to win something of value? I am not attending... Or maybe later, when I have have had time to give the latest build a hard run...

Regardless of the number of stars and the number recommending it or not the number of respondants is itself alarming.

Hi,

Is it only me, but the VP11 Customer Review page is not operational. Naturally some negative reviews started to reappear after the give-away campaign had ended... but now - nothing?! Everything else works on the site...

Christian

EDIT: Reviews are back... must have been a glitch or something...
