Sync problem in all builds of Vegas Pro 22

Maybe sit with the dance teacher to understand what moves and what beats need to match. Without that how can you tell if anything in the project is in sync? Or are there sharp sounds with corresponding images somewhere in the production you can use to double-check audio sync within VEGAS?

The projects I tested with weren't that long but I could see sync issues immediately with MxCompound comparing them to the original.

I won't have time for a while to do detailed testing with long projects. Here's what I would do which you could also do. Try setting up your camera, pressing record and clapping in front of the camera. Return in an hour, clap again. Bring the video into VEGAS, double-check the audio and video match. Then render out and look at the rendered file in a media player. Is it still in sync? Then bring the render back into VEGAS and compare the waveform with the original. If you're using separate audio and video that adds complexity but you can test that the same way.

Roger, I just completed and compared a render of the same dance program we've been discussing, but in VP 21. The audio remains in perfect sync throughout the entire video, unlike the render done in VP 22 build 248. What does that tell us?

I don't know. 22.248 with legacy AVC and 21.208 appeared the same here in limited testing and the rendered files themselves were fine regardless.

If I were you I'd work in 21.

Hi Roger. I agree.

I thought you might like to know that I've been editing in VP22 and then copying the whole timeline to VP21 to render. Works well as long as I don't use any filters/efx that are proprietary to VP22. I was surprised that this would actually work.

When you do a render in 22 and 21 and bring both renders back into 21 to compare do they look the same?

I thought there was an encoding problem but when I did that they lined up with the original in 21 so concluded it was decoding.

I've got a big work trip coming up but happy to test more later.

No, they don't look the same. The render from 22 will not sync with the render from 21.
