I'm editing a music sequence. Why do I get red, out of sync number, when I insert a video only clip. If I choose video only, why is it looking for the audio? Is this normal in Vegas?

Because somewhere on the timeline you have audio from the same video file and Vegas is letting you know that your video and audio are out of sync. If you removed the audio from the timeline, Vegas would not display the red indicators.
> If I choose video only, why is it looking for the audio?
It is checking to see if any audio from the same file is already on the timeline. If it finds it, it lets you know that you did not sync your audio to video. Since 99% of the time people are trying to keep their audio and video in sync, this is a very useful feature.
