Sync Video Tracks?

I have two video tracks, each captured from a differnet miniDV tape. Each track is footage from a different race car during the same race.

I have cropped and repositioned each track so that both tracks display on the screen at the same time (one on the top half and one on the bottom half). Love this capability!!!

Then I have to "synch" them so that they are playing "in synch". I can identify the exact frame on each track to use as the synch point. But then the only way I can find to get them in synch is to manually move one of the tracks until they are in synch.

Is there an easier way?

This was discussed fairly recently. Take a look at this thread and see if this is the kind of information you are looking for.

Thanks for the link, Paul. I gathered from this information that, in fact, I should sync video tracks by "dragging as needed".

I was hoping I could somehow mark a spot on track A and a different spot on track B and then just click a button to sync the two tracks at the points marked.

Not sure if you're reading this stream any more, but I have somewhat of an approach in mind, albeit manual and a bit hokey...

1) Make sure auto-ripple is off
2) Find sync point on first video event. Set a marker ("M"). Don't move this event at all in subsequent steps.
3) Find sync point on second video event. Split ("S") the second event at the sync point, splitting into events "A" and "B".
4) Line "B" up with the marker.
5) Place "A" next to "B" so the tracks are together again.

This would work, no?

Or better yet, use the "snap offset" located in the lower-left corner of an event. You can "shift-select" this for each event and set it on the frame you desire to sync between the two, then align both snap points to a marker or to the grid (if "snap to grid" is set on).

Good catch mickbadal. I'd never noticed that feature before.
