Synch dead-on until ported to DVDA 1

I have some footage where the audio is synched just fine until I bring it into DVDA - v.1. I went ahead and burnt a dvd I dont mind so much there is a one second lag between the footage and the video as there is minimal footage of mouths. However what IS annoying is the double / stuttering of audio.
Instead of "Bark Bark - mom's home" You hear "BA-Bark Bark - mom's home".
Why when I bring it into DVDA is there the extra audio bit?
Suggestions for fixing this? Also - if you suggested doing a search could you please give me keywords or links to previous posts as I would not know how to search for a solution for this problem.
Also, if your answer is to upgrade - I dont have the 250 right now so I have to make due with Vegas4 +DVD A 1. SO please please any thoughts.

1. Are you rendering to an elementary stream and AC3? If so, are you SURE you're getting the same rendered areas? What is the final file type before DVDA?
2. Are you by chance rendering to uncompressed vid with interleaved audio? I've seen this create problems.
You don't need the upgrade to have in-sync audio. DVDA 1.0 does this just fine.

I initially rendered to DivX avi file.
When I put it into DVDA it said that I had to re-render the video or convert it or something like that. so I let it do that and it created two sets of files:
1) a file with the extension m2v which is exactly twice the AVI file
2) it created a Audio_TS and Video_TS folder.
Im not sure what interleaved audio is but I doubt its going to uncompressed.

Thanks in advance
