Synch external device with MIDI

I have Vegas Video 3.0 running on a W2000 machine with an Audiophile 2496 soundcard and want to sync an external Roland VS840GX digital recorder to pull in multiple tracks into Vegas Audio.

I have tried different MIDI in/out settings under Preferences in Vegas, including MTC and using "time type" as 30N, etc, and have also set my Roland as both Master and Slave, but have not been successful generating a signal to sync the 2 together.

Has anyone ever sync'd 2 device like this? Or has there already been an article written explaining how to do this? (I can't find very much info in the manual.)

I've posted a step-by-step setup of how to sync a Roland VS880 and Vegas in this forum, you might find it doing a search on "roland" or "VS880", "VS1680". Also, go to the roland website and in their FAQ section, there is a step-by-step of how to do it using many audio programs. Sorry, I can't give you that step-by-step off the top of my head, I don't use the roland hard disk editors much, but find them extremely unfriendly to use when someone brings one into my studio to lay off some tracks.
