synching audio and picture

hey everyone, quick question. I am about to start editing a short film soon, shot ona sony PD150 , with audio recorded on a dat. My question to YALL are once I sync it to the slates in the timeline, is there any way to LINK the files, so i can just drag my shot in from the media pool, without having to render out brand new files. This will save me time, and I really do not want to capture all the footage, sync each shot, then re-render them out with the audio and video in the same file.

i guess what i am asking is there any way to link the two files, once synced, so i can simply drag the file into the timeline and have both audio and pix there???

please email me back if you have an answer to this. benoliver22@yahoo.com

Once you've sync'd the files on the timeline, you've got them sync'd on the timeline. You don't need to drag them from the media pool to the timeline since they are already there.

If you're planning on chopping up the video into shorter segments, select the video track and the audio track together and press G to group them. You can then split on the timeline wherever you wish and the individual audio & video segments will still remain grouped with each other.

If you've got a lot of stuff that will then be cut up a lot, I suggest doing a separate "quickie" edit to just sync the footage, and then to render same into a new AVI with sound. You won't lose any quality, and Vegas will automatically marry the new track into one (cutable) segment.
