Synchronize Audio to Align Events doesn't work right and takes 4EVERRR

Greg-Otterholt wrote on 11/19/2024, 3:14 PM

Tried the new "Synchronize Audio to Align Events" function in the brand new Vegas Pro 22 (build 194) that I just upgraded to from VP21 a few days ago. My project only had 7 pieces of audio/video to line up together which would take me about 3 or 4 minutes to do perfectly by myself.

Still, I thought... "Hey, if this new function just saves me a few minutes on every project, over time it'll be worth the upgrade." After selecting the tracks and then selecting the Audio and video bits on the timeline (just as the instructions suggest) took well over an hour and this function only lined up some of it correctly.

Feel like I've been fooled again with several functions of this supposed "upgrade" that doesn't work as well as VP21 and has cost me out of pocket and cost HOURS of my time. Feels like I'm actually paying in multiple ways (including the frustration) of being treated like the beta tester guinea pig for Vegas Pro!!!

On my Windows 10 Home Desktop with Intel Core i9-10850K CPU @ 3.60GHz and 64 gigs of ram.

They'll get it right by the end of the current model year.

"They'll get it right by the end of the curr😕nt model year."

I should have known better than to be an early adopter. This has been happening since I started with Vegas in 2007. 😭

I got a fairly "cool' response from the forum when I reported the same thing... Got dinged for reporting my hardware setup was listed in my profile. I've been on this forum for years though 7 versions of Vegas and this guy (who likes to lift his leg on a lot of posts) just tries to shut me down with a rude comment. Audio synchronization may work on short clips, but you can't trust it to and it certainly is inconsistent.

I am sorry if that's how you felt from my reply and you are not the first to report problems with this tool.

The point I wanted to make was that I agree with you about the tool as it is and it has nothing to do with your hardware or system specs. I think that comment read differently before you edited it and I interpreted it to imply the hardware was what mattered, but that isn't the info we need. Sorry to give you a negative impression. @marc-h

If anyone can provide sample projects that fail it could help the development, otherwise consider alternatives and check back later.

Here is what one developer requests for helping improve this tool in one of the many threads about it.

A power user contacted us and provided us with a large library of multicam projects, some of which worked but some of which did NOT. This helped us find issues in the code and resolve them. So yes - expect some changes in an upcoming update. And we are really sorry for any inconvenience caused so far.

If you want to help us further, it will be highly appreciated if you would provide us with samples of your problematic projects too - that way we can check whether all is fixed with our improvements so far or whether there is something more to do. Wetransfer is a nice option, for example. Usually, even some short sample demo is enough, just so that we can verify that the files formats, sampling rates, channel configurations, etc are all handled correctly and the sync algorithm does its job.
