I am trying to sync VEGAS VIDEO with a Video tape that has a SMPTE strip on the right audio channel. I am trying to do so using a MOTU MIDI EXPRESS XT USB. Anyway VEGAS is ahead of the VIDEO SMPTE by like 00:00:06:00 and I can't figure out why. However, the MOTU unit seems to be right on with the video (you can tell from the MOTU software) or it is real close, which leads me to believe that the problem lies within VEGAS.
If anyone can answer the following questions it might help me figure out how to fix it.
1. Are there any issues with VEGAS Video and chasing SMPTE, or any tricks? Also, after I set the start time of my tracks to equal the point at which I wanted the music to come in, VEGAS wouldn't start playing by itself when the video got to that point, is there a trick to getting it to start automatically?
2. The video SMPTE is 29.97 Non Drop. However, the standard presets for the MOTU unit are 30 fps and 25 fps. Here is the question: Does the MOTU unit automatically detect the SMPTE fps or do I have to customize it with the MOTU EXPRESS XT software? And if so,how does one accomplish that, because when I choose LTC mode in the sync dialog, it doesn't allow me to choose a fps?
3. Could it be hardware(processer, etc.) related? I am running a PIII 450 with 384 MB RAM.
Any help would be appreciated
