Sorry I should have said I try all the normal ways but it’s still a problem. The System Administrator is set for all and Vegas Pro 18 was Reinstalled with right click Administrator. Don

Interesting, mine says I'm not so I did the above. I wonder if it will work differently now and what the difference is. Also wondering will I now be administrator every time or only if I use the specific shortcut on my desktop? Well if i click on the icon on the taskbar I still am not administrator. If I click on the icon on the desktop it asks if I want to allow it to make changes to my desktop, then when I go into Help>about it does not have the warning. Why would they even have this not be administrator. I am administrator for all of 365 and its programs and everything else but I dont get that pop up for most things except when I add a program or maybe like some other system action. So what is the difference in admin privilege anyway other than usually you want it on everything your the flippin admin, duh! Vegas is so annoyingly dumb sometimes.

When I am administrator, I cannot drag anything onto the time line. Very odd I guess I will do a new post on this to see why

@Buystockinfun It's been like this for at least 7 years or so so no need to post more about it, don't run VEGAS as an administrator.

I came upon that I was not system admin looking at Help>About>Multimedia devices Gives error that I'm currently logged in without system administrator privileges

So I right clicked the desktop icon and selected properties> advanced and set it as administrator. Now when I click on the icon on the desktop it asks if I want to allow it to make changes to my desktop. The warning is gone in About but I cannot import anything to the timeline.

If I click another shortcut, such as one i put on the taskbar, it has the notice again about not being administrator, but I can again drag items onto the timeline.

This is not good, why would administrator privileges make me not be able to drag things onto the timeline? It affectively makes the program useless.

It makes me wonder...

@Buystockinfun It's not exactly a problem from VEGAS Pro, but a problem from Windows. As with any program, if you run it with administrator privileges, you will "lose" the privilege to drag and drop files. The reason is that drag and drop privilege is lower than administrator privileges, and you cannot use lower privileges to interfere with higher privileges.

Just don't run it with administrator privileges.

Using VEGAS Pro 22 build 194 & VEGAS Pro 21 build 208.

Brand Name: HP VICTUS Laptop

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU
GPU Driver: NVIDIA Studio Driver 560.70

Oh, that's interesting. I could swear Outlook is running as admin but I can drag and drop back and forth. Maybe not I guess!

So what's the point of the notice and it saying things may not work properly especially if they dont work properly as admin? LOL and what is the admin ability for nin VP then?

RogerS wrote on 12/6/2024, 1:08 AM

You do not need to give VEGAS administrative privileges for it to work properly.
