System Requirements

I'm changing my current system to a new system, and I was thinking of purchasing an off the shelf computer. I just wanted to know if this is a good idea, or should I get a custom machine built.

The PC is a HP 1440N Intel Pentium D Dual Core 820 2.8GHz.

I would consider AMD AM2 based upon your specs - you'll get better efficiency out of your rig and future proof your hardware when it comes to upgrades - look at the AMD 3800 X2 AM2's with mobo - buying a prebuilt machine isn't necessarily a better value - much can be had with a generic ots components that can be easily upgraded by any local computer shop.
