Tab switching to Vegas

Are you noticing this...

If I am in Vegas editing a HDV project and tab switch out to another application, when I switch back to Vegas the hour glass pops up for around 10 seconds, before I can continue working in Vegas.

Does this happen to you?

I am running on a pretty fast machine. It didn't happen when editing SD projects.

What can Vegas be doing for 10 seconds in this situation? Is there anything I can do to improve this?

Go to the Options -> Preferences, and in the general tab uncheck the "Close media files when not the active application" box.

Be aware that doing this will make it so you need to actually close Vegas so that you can use the files in other applications.

I am usually popping in and out of preferences changing this TAB according to what I am doing. Its quite painless. If I have Photoshop up and are amending files for use within Vegas, I have it checked and suffer the wait for Vegas to be re-invoked. This delay is purely conditional on how big the project is. Its a great tool/feature. Would love to have a tool bar button to toggle this on and off.
