Taiyo Yuden Disc Shipment

I've just received a shipment of Taiyo Yuden White Printable DVD-Rs. My problem is that they are packaged different from previous orders with a white "Value DVD" wrapper. Also, the normal ID number has been "overstamped" with "9D6". Otherwise, they look the same as other orders. It may not be a problem, but it does raise an eyebrow.

Is my supplier pulling a fast one, or can anyone vouch for this particular disc's reliability?

Funny you should post this. I need to order some myself pretty soon, and TechBargains lists a coupon for supermediastore.com. On their site they have tips to ID your media to see if it is "real TY" or not...

The Value Line could be TYG01, TYG02, or TYG03. I believe I have read on this forum that TYG02 (the Premium line) is more desirable.

Why buy the Value Line when you can buy the real thing for a tiny bit more?

Supermediastore sells both.

I didn't know we were being sold a "Value" line until they were received. Our office manager was buying what she thought were our regular TYG02's, but on a deal.

Send'm back or give'm a chance. What's your opinion?

They're LIKELY to be just as OK as a lot of other leading discs.

I just figure I have enough stuff going on without needing to deal with disc returns from customers.

(I've had returns with some other brands, even after they were verified post-burning, but never with Taiyo Yuden.)

"I just figure I have enough stuff going on without needing to deal with disc returns from customers." Coursedesign has hit on a major business PR point, why lower the image the customer has of one's work. I really do not professionally make multi copies to clients, but do send 80+gigs files on seq DVDs usually by fedex. Nothing is as maddling as having one or two DVDs have reading errors at the client site(1500 miles away) after being verified post-burning tested. Uploading is nice, but many clients,(more management), like having a "hard copy " of work rendered, especially when its a part of work in process.

If I was to order again... I would get the TYG02 line of discs only for the piece of mind. I have accidently order the valu line and have had no problems with them.
