Taking a V8 project back to V7

I have a project that is edited with Gearshift proxies, however Gearshift crashes and won't run in V8 (at least on my system). In order to finish it, I would love to be able to load it into V7, but of course can't.

Is there some way to do this, maybe by exporting an EDL and loading that into V7? I really hate to have to recreate my work in V7 if I don't have to.

Well I tried it and it works just fine. I saved as an EDL and loaded the EDL into Vegas 7e just fine. Cool :-)

Are all the transitions converted to crossfades like the manual says?
---------------------------------
Because of the significant differences between editing applications, projects that are converted from EDLs (or exported to EDLs) are necessarily simplified. Events are inserted into the timeline on a single track, and transition effects from the other application are replaced with cross fades. Projects that are imported from another application's EDL are initially limited to four audio tracks. If you add more tracks, save the project as a .veg file.

Using the supplied scripts "Export XML" and "Import XML" will allow you to preserve more features (like transitions) than using the EDL method. But there are still some things that will get lost in the "translation".

I lost a few velocity curves. One clip that played backwards no longer did this. It was still easier than starting from several edits back though. I'll check into the Export/Import XML thing in the future.
