Talk me into V6...or not.

I am mostly a hobbiest. My modest home studio does about $5k/year with only about 25% of that being actual multi-tracking bands. The other 76% is solo artists and karaoke stars.

I barely scratch the surface of Vegas 5. Simple editing, cleaning up, compression, FX, a bit of cut & paste here and there. No midi, no VST plugins, just mics and instruments. My computer handles many tracks easily, I notice no bugs.

I have read some threads on what's wrong with what's new, but most aren't features I know and use.

I upgraded from V2 due to ASIO & Automation, both astounding improvements.

Do I need to pop for version 6? What is new? I read white papers, but don't really understand the new additions, not things I've used. Is there anything astounding about it? Faster rendering? Improved sonic stereo imaging?

That is what i meant by "pre-amp"...the stereo panning technique of vegas, not mic pres.

Thank you for that info, I had never tried changing anything in that area.

I just checked it out, my pan setting has always been to "Add channels (0 db center)."
I will try constant power and see how it goes.

I thought it was very kind of Peter from Sony to reply to my question. Especially since he was the only one understood what I really meant about image, not "mix out preamps". He didn't give me the ha-ha, what an idiot reply...just a useful answer that maybe I had not uncovered. Thanks again Peter.
