Tape Out not Working

I am not able to get a tape out signal to my camera when I select this from the menu. What I do get are some small, blinking little squares that randomly appear on my camera screen for about 7 seconds before my camera stops recording.

Everything else works fine, just outputting to tape is an issue.

Any ideas what is going on?

Are you outputting the right format.
Do the heads need cleaning.
Is the firewire cable OK.
Can you capture OK from the same camera.

Just the obvious I know but all worth a quick check.

yes I can capture just fine

camera was recently cleaned and fixed

I just selected Print to Tape and went through the steps when I get the small colored flashing squares
