Temporary storing trimmed clips?

Is there a system in vegas to temporary store clips? For example,

While i'm editing a video track, I create a couple of trimmed clips fom my source video that I know I want to integrate into the video track, but I don't know where in the time line I want to put it yet...

So basically I want to store this clip in like a bin somewhere until I want to use instead of throwing it at the end of the timeline or having to recreate it when i finally figure out where I want to put it. I hope this is clear...

Thanks guys!

You can always render out the clips to AVI-DV file, it doesn't take very long as long as there are no effects or cropping done on the clips.

You simply need to make a subclip, right click your event to create a subclip. You can then place the subclip in any bin you want.

Great!! Thanks

That doesn't add it to the timeline without permission right... it just stores it in the ALL MEDIA bin right away?

It will store it in any bin that is currently selected.

And the other non-Media Pool way is to create a Region in the Trimmer, give it a meaningful name and click the floppy icon to save.

The Region is now available any time in Vegas Explorer using Region view and selecting the media clip.

Using 2nd Instance of Vegas As Scratch Pad!
If you reeeeally wanna see them as you work, I open another instance of Vegas and while you are back in your first instance of Vegas and using Trimmer, you can Copy from this directly into the 2nd instance of Vegas and use that as a notepad/scratch pad to form ideas! I use this a lot to gather and explore the flow of a small pieces/stories of a video. This allows me to experiment WITHOUT mucking about and mucking up the first instance - yeah?

Try it, once used I bet you'll keep using it. It is a very fluid approach to NLE editing and keeps things neat, and for me this IS a valuable way in organising my "messy" editing approach. It also, for me, keeps things organic and natural too!

Grazie

Sounds good, but when I tried this I can't find where it saves the region. After saving the region, when I look in Vegas Explorer and select the media file that I created a region within, it still says "No Region to Display" I don't know where it places it...?

That's a pretty cool idea too, I just don't know if my pc is fast enough to maintain 2 instances of Vegas and the constant switching back and forth :)
