I opened the project again, set Preview (Auto), deleted the FX and it crashed:

Very easy to reproduce now, happens every time it seems:

Description:
Stopped working

Problem Signature 08: d
Problem Signature 09: System.NullReferenceException
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.768.3

All I did was open my project, change Preview (Auto), hit play, open Track FX, delete the Brightness and Contrast and Color Corrector.

Changing to Preview (Auto) and playing is unnecessary.

1. Open saved project (containing single clip with velocity and 2 track FX)
2. Click Track FX on video track
3. Click the delete FX button twice and as soon as the FX window closes it crashes

jamon, i take my hat off to you - by now i'd be climbing the walls wanting to throttle somebody ;-(

if there was ever a better subject to be a beta tester i'd be amazed!

i'm sure there's a great many of us out here following your thread with great interest.

keep going till you find yourself wanting to throw the whole kit and caboodle out the window, then shut up shop for a couple of days and think how much better off we are than the majority of the planet.

Since I was able to cause Vegas to crash every single time by opening a project, clicking Track FX, and deleting all plugins, I wanted to change various system settings to try to isolate the problem. It went away when using any Compatibility mode, but was unchanged by turning Aero off. I unplugged the Wacom tablet, plugged in a USB mouse, and used the mouse to repeat the procedure to cause the crash, and it didn't happen. Since then, no matter what I do, I cannot repeat the crash.

Bug reproduced even when changing

* Windows Basic Theme
* Windows Classic Theme
* Run Vegas as administrator

Bug gone

* Compatibility mode (bug is gone while in any Compatibility mode, returns while Compatibility mode disabled)
- Windows Server 2008 (Service Pack 1)
- Windows Vista
- Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)
- Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)
* Unplug Wacom and plug in mouse (bug is gone and does not return after testing with mouse)
- Still works even after unplugging mouse and using Wacom again)
- Still works even after restarting PC without mouse attached (.veg file is unchanged, yet bug is gone)

Since the bug was gone I needed to find how to bring it back. I started a new project, dragged the clip to timeline, added velocity, added Color Corrector, Brightness and Contrast, modified the FX parameters, closed Track FX, reopened it and deleted the FX, and it's fine. I've tried various tweaks in the steps, opening and closing the FX and adding them and changing them in different ways many times, yet it no longer crashes since plugging in the mouse and unplugging the tablet, even though the mouse is not plugged in anymore and I've restarted again using only tablet.

Started Photoshop CS6 and used the Wacom tablet to paint for a minute, then went to open Vegas and realized there was a Problem Report dialog box. It must've happened the last time I closed Vegas.

Click 'Do Not Send' and reopen project that had the bug; the bug is still gone.

Poking around in C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\11.0
(Since the project .veg file did not change, but the bug disappeared, something changed, maybe in one of these files)

Tried restoring previous version of 'DeviceExplorer.PerUser.xml' and tried the '0000000x.restored.veg' projects, still no bug.

I can't figure out what changed by unplugging the tablet and testing once with a mouse, and cannot reproduce the bug anymore.
