How do I create a text box with color and words

Let me see, you want a coloured box on your video, with text in it, right?
Create two new video tracks above the one(s) you've got. On the lower new track, create a generated media solid colour. Use track motion to reduce the size of the box. On the upper new track, create generated text media, write the text and adjust the size/placement so it fits in the box.

Alternately, you can do this with one track. Just make your text background the color you want and then use pan/crop to make the whole thing the size you want. It will then look like colored box with text in it.
