text flickers on imported .veg project

dmcmeans wrote on 6/24/2007, 10:09 PM
I'm using Vegas 7.0e.

Step One: Create a project with a text event --preset Soft Shadow, text color transparent, outline on -- so that you get outlined text. Save this as test1.veg

Step Two: Create a new, blank project. Import test1.veg, and put it on the timeline.

Preview the video. You will see that the text font alternates between Bold and Not Bold every frame.

Can anyone duplicate this?

I'm hoping that is this is really a bug, and not something I'm overlooking, it can be added to the list of fixes in the next patch?

Thanks,

David

David, not here.

I followed your instructions, and . .

1] - Previewed on ALL outputs at ALL outputs qualities

2] - Reduced Preview speed

3] - Firstly without RAM Build Preview and then with.

4] - Also an additional Pan/Crop zoom in just to try and upset it - nada!

Sorry mate, I can't repro.

Grazie

Just guessing here, but do the frame rates match between the two projects?

Thanks for trying guys. Yeah, frame rates are the same. There's nothing very interesting about this project.

I've put a demo of the problem I'm experiencing online at

http://flyingriver.com/vegas/text_flicker/text_flicker.htm

The veg file I import in the demo is in that folder as well.

Again, I'm using version 7.0e Build 216. Windows XP SP2.

For now I'm going to work around by simply copying the text events I wanted to import. This all started while making a 5 minute countdown track to be used in other projects. Importing the veg seemed the natural way to go. I included the countdown in the folder for anyone interested.

Thanks again,

David

Another Vegas user led me to the answer.

If you set preview to Best Auto, the problem goes away. Furthermore, the problem does not appear in the rendered video.

So, this seems to be limited to preview.

"If you set preview to Best Auto, the problem goes away. Furthermore, the problem does not appear in the rendered video."

Not so for me. I tried all flavours of Preview. I didn't render. The ONLY render I could say happened was the fact that a small proxy file for the NESTED part of the test would have been created. Also the Build RAM Preview test I ran. Other than that, no rendering. Maybe as a result of your "nesting" - the creation of a PROXY file - that there is a "local" issue on your PC in managing the Nested Proxies?

Bottom line here is I THINK, I truly can't prove it, you maybe looking at a "FALSE +ve".
