text generator instead of scrolling credits

Hola,
I remember someone stating long ago (long before Pro Titler) that it is sometimes better to use the text generator instead of the scrolling credits in the media generator (because of more font selections etc).
I am trying this now in V5 (yes I know I need to update) but when I use track motion to scroll I can only get the part showing in the edit tab of the text generator to scroll.
What do I need to do to scroll all of the text??
Thanks very much,
Randy

Use the "Placement" tab and drag the text out of sight and off the screen. That will be the 1st keyframe
Go to end of Keyframe timeline and place cursor at end. Now drag the text the opposite way until off screen. That will be the 2nd keyframe.
Now type in the length of this text at top of Video Media Generator and drag the edge of the text in timeline until it's the same length and watch.
if text is moving too fast, lengthen it or vice versa for too slow. (don't forget to drag edge of text in timeline to match length you changed to. It has a notch when you're at correct length)
Yes, you can add shadows and deform the text and have much more control here.
Edit: Just keep typing until it's all there. Can scroll up and down or side to side. News text scroll is all one line with no carriage returns. Up and down looks more like this text here, depending on how you design it.

Don't know if this bug is still there:

Scrolling Text Bug w/ Drop Shadow

If you use drop shadow when using the regular text generator to do credit rolls, render times tend to the infinite. Also, render times go up exponentially as you make the scroll longer. As a result, I ended up breaking my credit roll (done with the standard text generator) into separate chunks.
