Text Generator won't keep still!

I have a series of "dot points" which I'm introducing one at a time using linear wipe transitions. Here's what I do:

I create the last caption first, with say six dot points.

I use Ctrl/Drag to make a new copy of that event, overlap it before the last one and delete the bottom line. This means the bottom line is revealed with a wipe.

I keep going backwards till all six are introduced, in time with the voice over.

Things were going well, then suddenly when I got to the change from number 2 to number three, as I deleted line 3, lines 1 and 2 moved. About four letter widths to the right. It didn't happen with the previous ones, but it is happening now.

Placement tab setting is "Free Form" for all six, so there should be no re-formatting taking place. I've had to nudge number 1 and 2 manually to get them where I want them, but for some reason they will not exactly coincide - there is a marginal, maybe one pixel difference I cannot get rid of.

For someone renowned for being placid this is ****** infuriating. Why should four be ok, then the next two not?

Any tips appreciated.

Line 3 was probably the longest line and it sounds like your text is centered? Make sure you're left justified and then duplicate the X & Y position values.

Ed - you're a champion!

As I said, I had it "Free Form" before, not Centred, so I couldn't see why it should move, but I just re-did all six using Top Left and all is well .....

Thanks again.

Top Left is good, but you may still experience problems. There are Right-Centered-Left settings even on the "first page" of the text dialogue box, right next to the bold and italic buttons. Make sure you set them right (or left) too.

In fact Grazie, the Sonic Foundry Wave Hammer does just this, but at the time I was (w)right justified and it missed ;)

( & thanks for the tip Tors.)
