Text in GIF is blurry after render

I have a photo image that I added some text to, and then I imported it into Sony Vegas and am using it as a title screen to start my video. When I open up the photo by itself, it looks great and the text is very crisp.

The issue is, after rendering the video for Youtube, the text is blurry and can barely be read. Why is this happening? How can I make it so the text stays normal and easy to read?

Thanks in advance!

Make sure your project properties was set to "best" quality, you gave enough bitrate to your video, a resolution that's directly translatable by youtube by 1:1 or 1:2 (e.g. 480x360 or 480x270 for widescreen), and you are using youtube's higher quality rendering. Without these conditions you will have blurry text.

Another solution would be to re-do the photo with larger text.

Hi Eugenia,
I hope you don't mind my jumping in on the thread. My understanding from other forums was that 640x480 was supposed to be optimal resolution for YouTube. Do you know where I could read more on the subject of getting the best quality video onto YouTube?

Youtube re-renders at 480x360 and 320x240, so any of these resolutions or a direct multiple of these resolutions are acceptable.

Would 640x480 then be not as good, or slightly better, or no difference?
