You can do this in the regular Text Generated Media by adding keyframes and then type the next letter at each keyframe. You can also do this with the ProType Titler in the Layout by keyframing the Selection parameter with the Selection Type set to Character.

see the opening of the Trailer of "Boat Basin Café" on the docs page at http://wacru.wa-music.com. used protype, customizing a preset as JR suggested.

Thank you all! - I don't have protype titler or know where to get it, so I'll try using test generated media and adding keyframes.

I'm moving in the right direction now. As always, you're very helpful – thanks.

Oh, I just found it (protype titler) in vegas. I've never used it. I downloaded the text file for it, but not sure how to call it up. Maybe generated media would be easier.

Hey, this is fun. I'm starting to see how to do this. I'll have to cut my copy to about 30 letters if each one is on for a second (seem to be the min.) to make it fit, but I think it will work. I'll keep you posted.

If you're good with Photoshop you can do this and really 'Pimp Out' your titles.
Put different things on different layers and adjust the layers on the timeline.
You can also animate them or whatever with transitions & filters.

Boris, AE, Zaxwerks - make the most professional looking titles to me.
BluffTitler has some interesting options and professional output too.

Vegas titles are OK but plain.
I already know how to get that look in other programs so I'd rather use them to get a specific look more geared towards the look/feel of the project and import to vegas w/ Transparencies.

Premiere's titler is the best I've used in an NLE.
Plus, they go back and forth from Photoshop to Premiere to AE, etc. -allowing you to have access to every parameter of nearly everything.

titles are one of those things that every "pro" use of titles I've seen are nothing but plain text, or simple FX. Basically, look at almost any movie out there.

All the stuff that gets fancy wouldn't be considered title work except that they're being used for the titles, they're more graphics art work. Vegas doesn't do that, a bunch of other problems do, but Vegas does titles awesome. just doesn't do all the graphic artist-things that other apps do.

I've finished the clip and the teletype machine worked out well, thanks to everyone's help. The link is below - you only need to watch the opening minute to see the affect, the rest of the video is pretty hokey. Keep your sound turned up.

I guess you'll have to copy and paste in the address line, I couldn't get the link of work in this forum.

There where many ways to do this, but I just used 'Text' and kept adding a new letter while bringing along the old letters. Thanks again!

Looked like it worked great to me, pretty entertaining!
