Text-only scene selection menu

Is there a way to change the default behavior of the "Insert Scene Selection Menu" so that it inserts a page that has text-only buttons instead of text and image?

Also, one I have the text buttons on the menu, is there a quick way to get them to all line up, much like what happens when you re-apply a theme? I sure spend a lot of time lining up buttons.

Can't answer the question about changing the defaults, but can perhaps help on the other question:

After you've created your text buttons, select them all by either clicking them individually with the Shift key held down, or use the rubberband select. Then, to the left of the work space, see several buttons with boxes and horizontal/vertical lines. These are alignment buttons, which will align and justify your your text buttons. There are various options: align horizontal or vertical centers, justify left or right, etc.

The only way I can think of is to edit the default theme (which only occured to me after reading your post). I just did it -- opened the default20.thm in WinZip, viewed the XML file, and edited the <IMAGE-BUTTON> section. Change the <SHOWIMAGE> entry to "false," close the file, letting WinZip update the archive, and no more annoying thumbnail frames.

Two caveats: 1: This changes the default vehavior for all buttons you insert, not just scene selection menu ones (like I care -- in general, I despise thumbnail buttons). 2: The buttons are still aligned horizontally, while I generally prefer them to be arranged vertically. I'm sure this can easily be changed by editing the theme, but I haven't played with theme editing nearly as much as I'd like to have.
