Text or Notes section?

I just figured out how to get Vegas to do ducking and thought I would include the long text of the "how to" directions with the template I saved. However, I can't find a way to include lengthy text anywhere in the veg file.

The only spot I could find to include any text at all was in the "File/Properties/Summary/Comments" but it only seems to hold a few hundred letters before filling up. Is there anywhere else to include text? It would be great to embed the script for voice-overs/narrations, etc., in the veg file.

I'd say save a .txt file in the same folder as the veg file.

There is a text note script on Vasst that's free, might do what you're wanting: here

Create a text event and mute the track.

i create a folder for my projects that contains sub folders for all the video and audio material, the veggies, and another sub folder that contains copies of all emails, text, original graphics and pics, etc.,.

the benefit of this is that it's self contained, ie. i can copy to ex hd and simply click veg to have everything open up correctly, and of course, see original scripts, text, supers etc., in simple txt or word docs.

Vasst Software offered what was the original notes to veg feature with a note assembly product , but has since been improved tremendously in Timeline Tools by Gary James. If you don't have Timeline Tools then you are not working properly with VegasPro as an NLE of superior strengths.

Thanx for the Timeline Tools tip. It works, and it's free! Exactly what I was looking for and probably more than I was looking for. I'm gonna have to see if I can figure out all of the extra features. Just give me a month or 2...

Careful downloading timeline tools. There's a couple links near the top of a search for it that download an install that installs TT & other stuff.

We should not need these workarounds - it is, to my mind, a fundamental (missing) feature,

An effect simple native note-taking feature that embeds in VEG files has been requested for maybe a decade !

Geoff, I find myself sympathetic to your comment above, BUT I DONT support it and I disagree with the approach.
Third-party support is always a viable and highly valued part of an NLE development system.
As I pointed out - originally Vasst stepped into this role and they did a good intro job of getting SCS third-party off the ground. I pointed out to them early on that there NOTEPAD feature was very worthwhile of improvement. However Gary simply beat them to it and that's fair competition in the marketplace and we as consumers of these products really benefit from that.

It looks like most of the "extra" features involve making slideshows which Vegas simply doesn't seem to do. In this regard, I recently bought ProShow which makes excellent slideshows in a matter of seconds. Well worth the $70 investment if you do lots of slideshows.

My only gripe with ProShow is that you can't make the backgrounds transparent with the alpha channel and you can't use many of the extra FX they sell unless you have their "Producer" version which is over 3x the cost of their basic version (which is the version I have called "Gold"). I wish Vegas came with at least a simple slide show feature - I see they have it in a watered-down version but not in the Pro version.

There is Analogx DXPad, but this is a 32-bit DX, so no joy there. There is also a plugin called VSTNotes, but the website appears to have vanished.

VASST's one is good, but I would find one embedded per track to be more useful.

I just downloaded it a couple of weeks ago from the VASST website. Don't remember exactly, but look for freeware. BTW, it works very well.
