I wonder if its related to the CrowdStrike (a cybersecurity firm) outage that has 'downed' many computer systems around the world. Computer screens at media companies, supermarkets, banks, airlines and airports and various businesses around the world have failed and display only the BSOD.

The Hub is not working here either.

EDIT: I'm hearing in Sky News AU from a computer expert that the outage was caused by CrowsStrike issuing a software update about 3 hours ago that hasn't worked. The same report has just mentioned that Microsoft's systems have also been affected.

Then that must be it. I rebooted and got logged in, but now I'm getting a message that I need to be subscribed (which I am already)

Reyfox wrote on 7/19/2024, 7:20 AM

Just going to the Hub, I had to login. No problem. Opened Text to Speech, no problem

From a recent CrowdStrike post, the update failure seems to be have been fixed. I imagine that the ramifications worldwide for the dodgy update will echo for some time. A few hours ago, CrowdStrike's over-night share price on the NASDAQ plunged some 18% according to a financial report on SkyNews AU which itself had been operating earlier today with limited technical capabilities. At least it does not seem to have been a malicious hack attack.

Hub is back up and running here too.

I didn't "use it" (in another veg right now), but the window popped right up, so it was probably just an overnight server thing. It was working perfectly earlier yesterday.

Great weekend, All!

Jessariah67 wrote on 7/20/2024, 6:53 AM

Now, I hit Analyze and it just resets the window. Open a previously transcribed veg and it stops responding again. Is this going to be an ongoing thing with Speech to Text?

Reyfox wrote on 7/20/2024, 7:13 AM

I just typed in text and it did text to speech and even translated the English text to Polish. Inserted to timeline without any issues.

Screenshot?

I'm talking about the other way - speech to text.

Reyfox wrote on 7/20/2024, 8:16 AM

Sorry about that. I just did a speech to text, and it went as it should. It analyzed and finished. How long is the clip?

The clips vary in length, from 15-50 minutes. I tried starting a new file, restarting the system and logging in & out of the Hub.

Jessariah67 wrote on 7/20/2024, 12:01 PM

New file, brought in one 2 minute wav. I clicked Analyze. It popped up a processing window for less than a second, then returned to this.

On files that had been analyzed previously, Vegas hangs like crazy, or stops responding at all - certainly nothing fluid enough to work quickly.

Reyfox wrote on 7/20/2024, 12:39 PM

This is the shortest clip I have. It's under 3 minutes.

Reyfox wrote on 7/20/2024, 1:46 PM

The screenshots I took, I split a clip on the timeline, highlighted it and then chose the speech to text. You don't actually have to have a short clip.
