Thank you Sonic Foundry

Just a quick message to thank Sonic Foundry for implementing at least three or four features I requested.

Firstly now being able to automate the individual paremeters of audio plugins. One example of how this would have benefitted me I mentioned when posting the request was being able to use a low pass filter and automate it's cutoff frequency. Something simple really. Now they've added that feature and even included a nice sounding low pass filter. So I'm very thankful for that. How this is accomplished in Vegas 4 I find to be a lot simpler than Nuendo (which probably won't get much use here anymore).

If I remember correctly, at some point way back I'm sure I suggested that they include support for mixing in surround sound, as Nuendo and Logic could do that. That's a brilliant feature to include in a video editing package which should lure a few people away from other packages such as Premiere etc.

As soon as FCP3 was released with it's colour correcting tools being it's main draw card, I quickly sent off a suggestion to SF that they seriously think about including such features in the next version of Vegas. Which once again they have! And these tools work flawlessly!

I also remember asking for some kind of 16.9 support. That's there now too, with support for anamorphic filmed footage. This should enable help and enable me to film in the 16.9 mode on my XL1. Even though the image is digitally stretched, it's still better than just letterboxing the image.

Some features I'd requested for version 3 had been implemented there aswell, including being able to load image sequences.

So in my books, Sonic Foundry are definitely a company who listen to what their customers want. I honestly can't say the same for a couple of other software companies.

Oh, and I like the fact that the program will still work on Windows 98se, Me etc. So I can run it on a 98 Lite enhanced machine which gives you much faster screen redraws than in Windows 2000.

Now if only you guys would enable the measures and beats grid snapping to go as high as 64th notes, or better still 64th note triplets! (128th notes would be asking for too much) Then I would be very very happy, as I love to program tight intricate sounding drum fills and parts that you just can't do with the maximum 32 note triplet resolution. Maybe in Vegas 4a or 4b perhaps? This would only be a minor feature enhancement of course.
