Thanks for helping the VMS users!

At a time of year when we tend to be reflective and thankful, I'd like to thank the people here on the Pro forum that take the time to visit the Vegas Movie Studio forum and help out where they can.

I know there are many here that help out there from time to time, but in particular Kelly (Chienworks) and Musicvid make frequent posts on the VMS forums. Kelly has been a steady presence there since I started with VMS in 2005, and lately Musicvid has been spending a lot of his time there as well. Ed Troxel (jetdv) also drops by from time to time.

It's easy to forget that we were all beginners once, and didn't know what an "event" was, or what rendering meant, or have any clue what MPEG2 was. Things that seem so obvious and natural to experienced users are not so obvious to novices ("How do I put text on the screen on top of my movie? I just get a black background" "How can I cut out parts of my video that I don't want?" "So the greenscreen background has to go on a track *below* my video?" etc.)

So again, my sincere thanks to those of you that take time out of your day to stop in at the "kiddie pool" and help teach the beginners how to swim. You patience and generosity are surely appreciated, as they were when I was a beginner there.

Tim,
Your words are the most thoughtful gift I could imagine this time of year.

Although I am humbled to be mentioned in the same sentence as Kelly and Edward, I am sure they share the same appreciation for your comments, as well.

Happy Holidays!

Tim,

It was a very thoughtful and kind gesture of yours to remember the gracious
guidance of the people you mentioned who drop in on the VMS Forums.

Goodwill extended over a whole year by them.It must take a special effort
when they have many other things going on in their editing/business life.

Mind you.., you have put much thought into your posts too.........
eg. .... 3 Camera Shot Edit, I remember.

There is no doubt experience with Vegas Platinum is invaluable graduating to
Vegas Pro.(Which I have recently done.)

Your reflective note is an antidote for those vigorous postings that
occur from time to time.Especially.... at this time of the year.

Seasonal Greetings & Best wishes.

What a deception, the subject drove me here but it is not about Digital Equipment Corp. VMS software...

Now, I go have a beer at the VAXbar. :-)

If any of the video editing pro's here are also helping out VAX VMS operating system beginners, then I also extend my sincere, heartfelt thanks for those efforts as well. :-)

(Admittedly, I had to look up the VAX VMS connection: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenVMS )

Also, all efforts in assisting any of the following VMS pursuits are hereby automatically granted "Thanks, for all you do" status:
