that terror news lower thirds text on tv stations

I've been looking for that text you used to see a lot (maybe you still do but I try not to watch the news) on news programs that would roll some text from right to left, and usually was on a black or blue background.
I could have sworn I saw mention of a script or veg file for this a while ago, but I can't find it now. May have missed it on the VAAST (used to be sundance site) as well.
Am I crazy? If not, could someone please point me in the right directions?

Type the text all in one long line. Set the duration appropriately. Lots of text will take a long time to read, probably more than the 10 second default. Switch to the Placement tab and click all the way to the left on the timeline in the text generator window. Slide the text off the right edge of the frame, placing it near the bottom. Now click all the way to the right on that timeline and slide the text off the left edge of the screen. When the video plays, the text will scroll from right to left.

...and when you set the duration accordingly, do NOT forget to drag the corresponding event that you just adjusted (on the timeline) to reflect the new duration you adjusted. Took me a few times to remember to do that.
Is there a switch you can click to automatically adjust the event to reflect the change you make in the media dialog box( I wonder)

Sorry I haven't replied back until now. I've been out of town since thursday. But I wanted to thank you both for your help. I was able to get something to work- it's passable but not super great. The problem is once I create the text and write the whole long thing, Vegas cuts off the beginning and end of it. I've done a work around by making the text much smaller than it should be and zooming in a lot in the pan/crop tool. This works, but the text starts to get a bit fuzzy.
Is there a way to fit the whole text w/o having Vegas crop it? Thanks!
