"The Application does not support this file type."

Just built a new PC and installed fresh Windows and Movie Studio copies.

Noticed that thumbnails of particular video files were not loading, and after installing K-Lite, that issue resolved. But those same videos still won't load in Movie Studio 17, with an error message reading "The Application does not support this file type."

On my last PC, these same files did not have such an issue. And on my tablet, I'm still able to load them into Movie Studio 16 (though both my tablet and old PC are/were too slow to be able to efficiently edit them)

Tried uninstalling/reinstalling to no avail.

Any advice?

What advice you need if you gave no relevant information?

As FayFen suggests please post media details on one of your problem files.

Also installing third party codec packs such as K-Lite is not recommended as they can interfere with VMS's codecs.

Thanks for the software.

The files with issues:

Writing Application: Lavf56.15.102

First video stream: 99.9 Mb/S 3840*2160 at 29.970 (30000/1001)FPS, HEVC (Main 10@L5@Main)

Once again, my old P.C could open these files in Movie Studio 17 without an issue (and my Surface tablet can still open them in Movie Studio 16). But editing was impossible because of poor P.C specs.

And the rest of the media info?

Yikes. It's been awhile, but I don't think I ever did. I stopped using movie studio altogether anyway, since the new version was a complete retool and not something I wanted to bother with. Been using Premiere for a couple years now.

@Jeffrey-Hollins What type of files are you having problems with? Please post media info, instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

If you have MPC-HC player then the info from its media tab is the same and saves you having to download MediaInfo.
