SonicFoundry yours clients need a good explanation about
your new politic of unsupport your programs.

A new email received today from SF:

I believe that SF is thinking in discontinued the
SoundForge also, and sold us a new program (based on the
mix of SounForge and CD Architect plus 24 bits) without the
posibility of a upgrade from SoundForge or CD Architect.

I'm in a mistake?

Any conclusion?

Be carefull with Sonicfoundry, think before buy any product
of Sonicfoundry, the company not anounce the discontinued
of a program that cost hundreds of dollars, and unsuported
all customers, and delete your shame.

To resolve these issues you are having, I suggest the following:
1. Get a wife or girlfriend
2. Have 1-3 kids
3. Get a challenging and demanding job
4. Remember that life is short. Don't waste it all being bitter and
full of hatrid over pidley little issues.

Once following above steps, I am sure that you will no longer waste
your time or mine by cluttering up this forum with your slams. I
read this forum to learn, not to hear people with pent up hostilities
vent. Also, when I bought VV, I don't remember them promising me a
life time of support or upgrades. I guess you would also have Ford
continue to mass produce parts for the Model-T, and ensure there are
mechanics at every dealer that could service them. Get a grip, run
along, and go find something else to do.

Very funny, an idiot repply from a id...... (You work in SF?), I buy
this program the last year, and this year is discontinued, this is
regular for you?. If the next year SonicFoundry discontinued the
Vegas, You be a happy man? (With a discontinued product, without the
possibility of any upgrade), maybe you don't are a regitred user, and
don't bougth your Vegas, no spend money = no problem.

My advice for you:
1. Buy a goldfish bowl.
2. Put you head in the goldfish bowl.
3. Go with the goldfish bowl to the mental hospital

Bye Kris :(

Is easy, you need read this word with attention (You looks
intelligent). Afther, you will think about the use of a part of my
repply (Why don't use all?), for your (I think) bad intentions.
In my country Spain (Europe) have a very popular and old proverbs, I
remember:
"Cuando veas las barbas de tu vecino pelar, pon las tuyas a remojar"
in your languaje is like:
"If you see your neighbour in problems, you be cautious, you are the
next"
If SonicFoundry discontinued a program like the CD Architec (Is very
dificult use the new CD Recorders without drivers), is very easy that
in a sort period of time discontinued the Vegas or the SoundForge,
without any explanation, like the CD Architect case.
Now, you read "SOLIDARITY".

No new product. If SF make a new product, no problem, I update my CD
Architect, but anything, only a discontinued product. Hundreds of
dollars to the litter, and I need remain forever with my old CD
Recorder, I hope that CDR machine don't stop of work (When the CDR
burner fail, the CD Architect to the garbage). CD Architect was the
better burning app.

To be clear I fully support Sonic Foundry, I don't post here often
because the NG is difficult to navigate, but I do notice however that
the signal to noise ratio is pretty high. Reading between the lines
in Mr. Ramallos earlier posts gave me the impression that he is a
person that has had an ongoing issue with this NG and has changed his
username several times. People like this never go offline.
Furthermore acrimonious discussion that go offline often come back
online with even more venom. So my objective is to try to understand
where he is coming from even though I am an ardent supporter of SF.

Regarding CD Architect I don't think SF will leave existing customers
in the lurch. Let's see what they have mind.

I think I see the challenge here. It maybe difficult to maintain the
profitability of a product like CD Architect if you have to hire
resources to keep creating free updates for a product with declining
revenue. It's very "un windows' to be supporting hardware directly.
What's needed is some kind of abstracted api in Windows that CD
burner apps can support, then as new hardware comes out they also
support this api then everyone is happy. This may or may not be
possible, but I did see the text for an adaptec cd burner plugin fly
by when I installed Windows Media Player 7. So who knows.

Vegas/Vegas Video are completely different. They will work forever
as long as HW companies continue to provide MME/WDM drivers for their
hardware. If you're into video, VV is stunning, I'd like to see SF
step up their marketing efforts in this area.

Hi
If the price of CD Architect was 30 us dollars, ok, but the street
price of CD Architect was 300 $ or more, why?. SF have the obligation
of make new updates (Or a universal api, or publish the metod of make
drivers for CD Architect), the CD Architect owners pay a lot of money
for a CD Burner aplication, and need updates for the new hardware.

I'm a Sound Engineer with over 15 years of experience, and you will
check my real name at AES for example (member 51372), and you will
probe my identity.

I'm really support SF at the moment, check my software list from SF in

this not is a real support, I need a explanation from you about the
word "support".

SF don't understand that this politic is a bad way for your bussines,
foment the piracy, anything pull down a lot of dollars to the litter
(Like anything buy a program without support, almost a CD Burner
program), is better and cheap optain the last radius release, and no

CDM wrote on 9/17/2000, 12:39 PM
Whether of not they replace the product, CD Architect is
basically "bug free". The only kind of drive support they need is to
adhere to the MMC compatible standard. I can see how paying a couple
of guys to keep adding drve support to a product which is
basically "done" and only targets a niche audience (pro sound people
who require DOA authoring, like me) is costly. So, as long as you get
a scsi or atapi MMC compatible drive, CD architect is still all you
need in its current state. Maybe they'll add some kind of "do it
yourself" drive support?

Hello.

We have a CD Architect forum for our CD Architect software messages.
Please post related messages to that forum, instead of this one.

Due to the nature of our forums, finding pertinent information
related to our products can becomes a bit complicated when there are
off-topic messages.

After looking some of these messages, we have about 20
completely off the topic of Vegas posts, and that is not appropriate
for this forum.

We provide these forums as a service to our customers for peer to
peer communication, however there are simple guidelines that we would
prefer for our forum messages to follow (for obvious reasons) and
this is one of them.

We are sorry that you are unhappy with our recent decision, and if
you feel that you would like to communicate this with us, please send
an email to customerservice@sonicfoundry.com if you have any
questions.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Hello Shaffer,

Sorry for the Off-Topic if you think that this post is a off-topic (I
know what is the CD Architect forum), but I think that the info of a
discontinuity of CD Architect (Isn't a off-topic in my oppinion) need
know all Sonic Foundry users, this new politic is very dangerous for
the Sonic Foundry users and his interests.

An Advice:

This trouble is very easy to stop, Sonic Foundry must a explanation
to the users (if SF appreciate his customers), why is discontinued?,
If becomes a new release: cost of upgrade? and, politics of upgrade?.
This notice or explanation are welcome, but no other.

I know this email, customerservice@sonicfoundry.com , but this is a
public interest info, you need post the SF explanation.

Best regards

P.D. I'm very unhappy
