The end of 48fps?

Hi there

I was evaluating Vegas Pro 15 - and have noticed that 48fps export seems no longer supported. I tried using Sony AVC, MAGIX QSV, Mainconcept, but could not get a true 48fps export?

Holywood producer Peter Jackson used 48fps for the Hobbit. I use this framerate as it is exactly double film (24fps), has better low light capabilities than 50fps or 60fps, and is a common frame rate on the type of gear I use, including GoPro's, DJI drones, osmo's etc.

Is this the end of 48fps?

Regards,

What exactly do you mean when you say you "could not get true 48 fps export"?

You should be able to just enter the "48" into the fps field of the render window.

Multiple problems here. If I type 48fps in the Magix AVC encoder it switches to 12fps when I click away. If I type 48fps in the legacy MainConcept AVC encoder (enabled in internal preferences) it sticks in the template the but resulting file is 29.976fps. I managed to get Sony AVC encoder to render at 48p.

Ah, sorry, I now forgot this annoying new bug. Thanks, Nick, for pointing to it.

If you also have an earlier Vegas version available (e.g. VP14) you could make some render presets with the desired frame rate there and use these presets within VP15.

Hi yes, the 2 issues exactly as nick mentioned.

I was unsure is this was a bug or technical limitation in the new rendering upgrades

However I want to add, yes Sony AVC works if you type in 48, but the actually framerate of double film is 47.952, which is the exact framerate GoPro and DJI film in. If using 47.952, Sony AVC renderer crashed (as it has always done for many versions. This leaves the MAGIX renderers, which switch to 12fps when typing in 47.952 - making 48fps(47.952) type rendering impossible in VEGAS PRO 15.

If this is a bug, please can we log it with the dev team? If its not a bug, looks like I‘m gonna need change my camera settings in the future.

Dean

You could enable MainConcept AVC in the internal preferences and then use this renderer. At least here it works typing and using 47.952 fps framerate for it.
