The M-Audio Delta 44

An audio buddy of mine is upgrading one of his rigs and he's giving me his old audio card. It's the M-Audio Delta 44. 4 in 4 out breakout box, etc.

I'm upgrading from the Soundblaster Audigy 2....( stop laughing )

Really looking forward to it. And the price is good. ( Free )
Anyone have any experiences with this card in relationship to Vegas and Acid ? Gonna be nice to finally have a decent audio card for my work.

Other than the work you've seen of mine, I'll be using it for Acid and recording acoustic vocals and guitars. Also will be plugging in my Roland D-70 keyboard and get back into some of my own music.

I have the Delta 44 and have been more than happy with it. I have used it with tons of projects and have had very little problems for several years now. I have produced several CDs for local artist that sound every bit as good as the "big boys".

The only problems I am aware of (and I dealt with it also) is the "popping and clicking" some folks get. I haven't heard much about it lately though. It was considered a driver problem and my "assumption" is that the new drivers have fixed the problem. I am currently using the 5.10.00.0027 and had no problems. Some drivers between this version and the current version did have problems.

You will notice a great difference in the noise floor and overall sound quality moving from the Sound Blaster to the Delta. Obvisouly the A/D converters are much better than the Sound Blaster also. You will also enjoy the ability of recording 4 seperate tracks at the same time when working with audio. (Drums are the only thing that takes work)

I use it with Sound Forge, Vegas, and other audio and video programs without any problems. Video voiceovers are great with this card. You will need a mixer or console of some type to get the most out of it. The Delta does not support MIDI in/out....only wav.

Enjoy!!

I use one and like it. I find that the driver that works best with it is not always the most recent depending on your system. I am not at all disapointed with it.

Thanks for the input guys. Sounds like a good card. Can't wait to install and try it for myself.
