The program does not allow make a movie.

Denis-Selivanov wrote on 12/7/2020, 11:57 PM

Hello.
Yesterday I purchased and installed the 17th version of the Platinum program. Up to this point I have used Movie Studio 15.

The program works quickly and pleasantly. But when trying to make a movie, the program closes and gives an error: Problem: Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)

This happens when you select any of the options: save to hard disk or upload to Facebook, or when you click another button in the Make Movie menu, the program closes immediately.

At the same time, version 15 continues to work correctly.

Search the forum for "render crashes". There are a few threads that might be relevant.

@Denis-Selivanov
I see that the fault is in your Nvidia GPU and I think it is the used driver.
Can you tell us which GPU you use and the exact driverversion installed for that?
You can find that on Control Panel \ Device Manager \ Display Adapter \ Nvidia ........ \ right click Properties \ Driver

I more or less have the same problem, which I have had for 6 months. I have previously mentioned it here in the forum and also made a support ticket to Magix, which was closed without any solution. I think that in many cases this has nothing to do with render crashes or graphics card.

I have a 2 core intel with 16 gb ram and intel 4000 integrated graphics and the program performs find for my use, which is editing 1920 pix mts files from a panasonic and mov files from a Nikon. dslr. But the problem starts when I try to open the 'Render as' window.

Opening a window includes several phases in the computer. First it loads the window into the computers memory and in the initialization phase different procedures are run, parameters are set and program variables initialized. After all this has been done, the window is shown on the screen. Thereafter the editor chooses the various rendering option and press the Render button and the rendering starts.

The problem for me, and also I think for Denis above, is that the program crashes before any rendering takes place, i.e. when we are trying to open the window. This is the phase where the problem looks for the various rendering options available on the system and fills up the list on the left hand side of the window. In my version 16 , after I have pressed my 'Advanced options' button there is a slight delay before the window is displayed. This is when the window start procedure is run. Please keep in mind that no rendering is going on at this stage. Only filling up the render options in the list in the left side of the window.

In my opinion there is something wrong with this procedure in version 17 and this causes the program to crash. The developers must have made some changes in version 17, compared to previous versions, which causes this. Instead of sorting out the problem, they just say the computer do not confirm to the requirements. Well, my computer does, although barely, and the program works fine, with nice playback etc, so it is rubbish to say this.

There is something wrong with this procedure, or a related procedure, and not with the computer.

@Werner_NOR There is something wrong with this procedure, or a related procedure, and not with the computer.

It's working for me, so there can't be anything wrong with the procedure.

I suggest you take the advice of @j-v and @EricLNZ

@j-v Sorry.
I didn't have time to reinstall the driver.
Today I reinstalled Windows (reset my computer to factory settings) and rendering started.

Everything works fine.

EricLNZ wrote on 12/9/2020, 3:42 PM

@Werner_NOR From your description I wonder if a Render Template is causing conflict.

Firstly try a "Factory reset" https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

If that doesn't fix the problem go to your User App Data and look for Roaming\VEGAS\Render Templates. With VMS shut down move the folders elsewhere so VMS cannot find them, then one by one move them back restarting VMS each time and trying a render operation.

Erik, I tried this:

1. Reset to factory settings.

2.Deleted everything in Render Templates. I only had one custom template.

Then tested - didnt work with advanced settings. Rendering to mp4 works fine.

3. Deleted .net 3.5, restarted window .

3. Installed .net 3.5, restarted window.

4. Graphics acceleration is off. Quicktime is off.

Then tested - didnt work with advances settings/render as. Rendering to mp4 works fine.

Conclusion: Situation is the same as it has been for 6 months. I can do editing and render to normal files like mp4. I cannot use custom templates or advanced settings. In that case I have to go back to version 16.

Untill somebody can advise me otherwise to get the program working, I still believe it is the code in the 'render as' window that is behind the problem. But what it is I cannot say exactly, as I do not know how the process works.. But in order to fill the template list in the window it has to run a process and I believe that is where the problem is. I made a support ticket to Magix a couple of days ago, have recd a confirmation of receipt, but nothing more.
