I have:
(PC1)
amd athlon 64x2 dual
6400+
3.21ghz, 3.25gb/ram
(PC2)
amd athlon 64x2 dual
4400+
2.21ghz, 2.00gb/ram
and both PCs have V8c installed. But the faster machine is, within 5 minutes or less of a render, crashing consistently (I'm rendering treated M2T's in the timeline outputted to Cineform HDV's). Even if the applied video effects are relatively few and/or simple. And, I've never had this problem with this PC before the last few weeks.
The other PC (the slower one, 4400+) has no crashing problems under these circumstances whatsoever.
A few weeks ago, a computer store "repaired" the fast machine by running "full diagnositcs", and "cleaning up registries", and it seemd to fix the problem I was having then (i.e., renders and playbacks progressively slowing to a crud).
But now, it seems that the problem is trying to come back. I say that because even when I try to do an untreated M2T-to-HDV render on the faster machine, as I watch the render, it will intermittently pause for several seconds (or appear to), and then start back again, as if the PC was waiting for "somethig" to catch up.
This is driving me crazy, particularly since I have a major deadline in two weeks. Any advice is appreciated.
