the way to downgrade your project file version from 21 build 300

I had to downgrade my Vegas version due to stability issues with 21 build 300, but projects generated by 300 won't open in the older versions. After a period of research, I just found a solution. Here it is.

  1. Back up your project files in advance to avoid any possible problems.
  2. Download and install HxD (https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/), open your project file with it.
  3. Change the value of "00000045" from "50" to "00" and save.
  4. Now the new one can be successfully opened with older Vegas versions.

I hope my post can help someone who is "suffering" from 21 build 300.

By the way, actually there is a downgrade tool for Vegas Pro and Movie Studio called MSVPVF (https://sr.ht/~mrpapersonic/msvpvf/), but it hasn't been developed for a long time.

Its logic is to change the value of "00000046". If you change it from 15 to 14, it means to downgrade from Vegas Pro 21 to Vegas Pro 20. However, this tool can't completely solve the downgrade problem for some reason, such as the current 21 build 300.

After long contemplation and anxiety I tried this obscure piece of software. It did not fix the issue.

Strange, it works fine for me. I've downgraded the project through this and can open it in 21 build 208. It saves the project I had been working on for days.

Maybe you can compare the differences between the two versions by HxD on your own. My solution may not apply to everyone...

I might cause widespread panic if I start playing with that hex editor. I have no idea what I am doing with it.
