Themes

Hello All:

I have been trying so hard to get my own custom themes into DVD-A 1.0. I have printed out all the documentation from previous posters, I read the DVD-A help topic a least 20 times........I'm just not getting it. If at all possilbe, could anyone give me extreme laymens step by step on how to do this. I just am not getting how to zip, when to zip, when to rename the extension, I am so frustrated. I have three themes that I am dying to use, but just can not figure this out. My last few projects that I wanted to use them for, I just gave up and did it the long way by creating the graphics and then improting them into a new DVD-A Project one at a time. If any body has any easy to follow, step by step in laymens terms directions, I can not tell you how grateful I would be if you could post them. If you would rather not fill up the boards with more of this topic, I would be so appreciative if you would email me at: lorisloft at wideopenwest dot com.

Thank You,
Lori J

Don’t feel bad, it is not easy at all. The easiest thing to do is:

1. Find a theme that is close to the one you want.
2. Copy theme directory under the _Themes folder for that theme to somewhere else on your PC and give it a new name (don’t leave it under _Themes).
3. Replace the media in the new directory with your media without changing any names.
4. Edit the default.xml file in that directory and change the contents of the <NAME> tag to the name you want to appear in DVD Architect
5. ZIP the contents of the directory (do not including the directory itself, just the files) into a ZIP file.
6. Rename the .ZIP file to .THM and move it to the themes directory under the DVD Architect 1.0 directory.

The next time you start up DVD Architect, it will see the new THM file (which is really just a renamed ZIP file) and it will expand it into the _Themes directory so that it shows up in DVD Architect.
