Themes with text instead of buttons?

I want to set up a theme using one of the backgrounds from the background tab. I want to set up my text for the heading in, say, a 30 point font. Now, if I do that, and export it as a theme, I'm fine at this point.

But where I'm having trouble is that I want a theme where I can just drag an .avi file from the explorer tab, and instead of appearing as a button, or a button with text, it will automatically appear as a text only link, and not one where the font goes to, say, Arial font and size is auto, but I want it to automatically create a text link with, say, a 26 point (NOT auto) font that's in Times New Roman.

I try to set it up this way, but when I drag the .avi file, it creates a button again.

This program seems marvelously powerful, and I do like it, but the manual is just not adequate. Simple tasks like this shouldn't be that big of a deal. No matter: I know it's one of those things that when I get it, I'll have it for good. It's just "getting it."

So if someone could walk me through that one, I'd be greatly appreciative!

Thanks in advance,
TB

Just tried this (Changed button style to text, exported it as a grid-based theme, and created a new project using the newly created theme), and it behaves just as you want. Any item I add, whether I drag it in or double-click the file, creates a text-only button using the font I had specified before exporting the theme.

Are all other aspects of your new theme (background, colors, etc) being applied properly?

the manual is just not adequate.

Are you referring to the printed quick start guide or the full PDF manual? The full manual seems pretty adequate to me, though I'm more of a "jump in and learn as I go" kind of person anyhow.

Rob,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I'm almost there now, but not quite. I set up my menu the way I want, with text headers and some buttons. Then I change the buttons to text only, and select my font size. Then I select "export menu as theme", and choose advance, and theme type as grid. Name it, click save.

Now if I open a new project and select that menu theme, indeed when I drag an .avi file to the menu it creates a button in the text font and size I want. But NOW the text I had put in the menu, eg., as a header for the menu, is all messed up. Not the same.

So if I export it as theme type of positional, it remembers my text and general formatting, but not my button style. If I export it as grid, vice versa. Am I missing something?
