I missed this film about the MPAA when it came out. Wanted to see it but either it didn't play nearby or I just missed it.

Just saw it on "cable" IFC.
It upsets me a lot, like political films, but really glad I saw it.
I only find one more showing listed on the IFC web page, and it is soon.

Here it is, if you catch this post in time...

I think this was shown in the UK recently. I started to watch it, but found it rather dull.

I don't know how film classification works in the US, but here in the UK, we have an odd situation.

The British Board of Film Classification gives ratings to a film, and in order to receive a certain rating can demand cuts - effectively censoring the film. However, regardless of the classification received, local councils are at liberty to re-classify the films as they see fit thereby either preventing local residents viewing , or widening the appeal.

Every cinema has to seek council permission to play a film.

Birmingham recent lowered the classification of one film from an 18 to a 15.

I got it a few weeks ago from Netflix.

Worth watching if you have ever wondered why the movies are rated as they are.

Yeah, a bit dull, but well worth the watch – and some of it was quite amusing.

i wanted to see it in theatures but, of course, no major chain runs non-rated films. And most stores won't carry anything that could be "adult" oriented (which is what a NC-17/no rating normally is taken as).

Didn't know it was out on video yet though, I'll have to check this weekend.
