Why haven't you guys fixed this site yet? Everytime I log on, nearly everything I've already read has gone back to indicating that I haven't read it. Gettin' to be a real pain the derriere!
Heck, I'd be happy if they could just keep the site online. Over the last few days, it's been down quite a bit. I just get bumped to Screenblast.com where it displays a not-particularly-informative error message.
I'd presume that Sony and Sony Digital Pictures are two separate corporations with two separate web sites. If they were mine, there would most definately be a link between the two!
>>>>everything I've already read has gone back to indicating that I haven't read it<<<<<
Yes! I've been bitching about this from the start of the change. I see no difference between visited and unvisited links here anymore. I used to take a break during the day bouncing between Vegas Audio, Video and Sound Forge forums to see if I could help or learn something but I just don't have the time to check every topic 10 or so deep now to see what's been visited or not. Please fix this Sony. If you can't fix the current format (visited = grayed out, unvisited = bold), go back to the standard convention (visited = maroon, unvisited = blue).
FWIW, I also found it difficult to use Sony's sites to track down the forum's URL.
I just wanted to say that read and unread links show up fine on my computer. Maybe you have gotten a glitch somewhere. Or, can a cookie cause something like that?
Hence the FWIW notation. I appreciate the offer in that area. I have the Google toolbar installed and use the "search site" at nauseam to great success. So a site's lack of HTML know-how or what would be appropriate foresight can be sidestepped with a little ingenuity in that regard, including checking the CC and DMN forums. I just wanted to mention it hoping Sony would take notice for the sake of newer PC users.
To me that point pales in comparison to the visited/unvisited link issue. I'm flabbergasted by the lack of posts related to this. TheHappyFriar (sp) is the only other member to post on this issue that I've seen until this thread.

Hmmm, That's very interesting, especially since both I.E. 6 and Netscape 6.2 exhibit the same behavior here which should eliminate the cookie issue. I have this site set to except all but 3rd party cookies in I.E. and to except all cookies in N.S.. This is very confusing.
All was well until the change, and I am not a Sony basher. Other's take on this (something I've been asking for all along) would be very welcome on this.
I signed on specifically tonight to ask how one finds this forum. I have (had) my Explorer home page set to SonicFoundry.com. On the first day of the change, as mentioned by someone above, I simply could not find a way to navigate to the forums. I figured perhaps they had simply been discontinued (kept telling myself, nah, this wasn't a hostile takover . . . they wouldn't just take down the forum sites with no warning.
Somehow, I found the forum area (I still don't remember how), and was quick to bookmark it. Then, I discovered that my password wouldn't work and my email address wasn't recognized. Went through the "email my fogotten password" routine, and, received an old ID/Password that I no longer use. Figured I'd use it for the time being, thinking that the problems were temporary and to be expected with Sony's integration of the SF forum sites into their own.
I was frustrated to find that the emailed ID/Password didn't work, either.
Then, again, I can't explain it, my original ID and password were accepted. Accepted, that is, on this work station (my home). At the office, I can't find this forum, and attempts to login where appropriate from the sites I can find won't work.
Regarding the site marking the threads which you have read... it's working for me. However, I noticed that the color they chose to indicate read vs. unread threads is quite similar and relatively dark in color. Perhaps adjusting the brightness and contrast of your monitor might help reveal the color differences. Of course, this may not be your problem at all, but I just cranked down the brightness of my monitor and I could no longer easily tell the difference between read/unread.

I have randomly had problems with read/unread not working, even with the old site before Sony. It didn't happen as often but it did happen.
I just assumed that the higher frequency lately was because of all the changes. If it always worked, that would be great, but I call it a nit as opposed to other page issues.
I have links set up on my IE brouser. One for VF and one for Vegas. They did not work when the forums were down, but they work now, and I have not changed them.
In fact, my link buttons still have the old, red sonic foundry logo on them...??

Then you are probably still linking to www.sonicfoundry.com instead of www.mediasoftware.sonypictures.com. I recommend you create new links with the new address before the old ones stop working.
