Ok Nickle, just wanted to know how you have progressed - and yes, I'm in a very similar position . . and yes the online "Help" is fairly taciturn to the point of being opaque.
What I wanted from the online help was a, "And now you have a MIDI Keyboard you will need to do these things to make it speak to Vegas . . .. etc etc etc . . ". However what I get are assumptions about what I can do next, without me understanding WHAT it is I have to understand. . . . I've found this area quite frustrating.
Acid now supports MIDI? Hmm, if this means I can use Gigastudio with it I could finally just chunk Sonar altogether. Can anyone confirm being able to use Gigastudio with Acid 5?
TIA,
Randy

"Once you get yourself a midi keyboard and load up some softsynths in Acid..WooHoo! Good, clean fun!!
Discover the thousands of different sounds possible with FREE softsynths available on the net. Record them in Acid and add loops. Add FXs, mangle the loops with The Chopper, etc."
...does that mean I could build a whole strings or brass section?
I mainly used Acid with loopŝ up to now and not as an "expert" at all and I have never used MIDI or anything related to keyboards...
Randybrwown,
Don't know about Gigastudio, but please consider this statement from Sony's Peter Haller (and don't dump Sonar yet):
The only reason that we permit editing of MIDI in ACID was because we don't offer a "MIDI Forge" tool to permit the MIDI equivalent or editing that Forge provides.

Don't mention it, Randy.
The interesting thing is "we know that users want a different model...". I woukld have thought that there was only one sensible way to go after that.
Anyway - less than two hours to go here. I hope the new year turns out well for all people, especially those bereaved in the tsunami disaster.
