To view source time code (i.e. the original time code on your footage) on any event, you need to apply it as a Media FX while your event(s) is/are still in your Project Media. If you apply it after the event is on the timeline, all you're getting is timeline time code.
Make sure to choose the right timecode FX and make sure your timeline is set to that same timecode.

Under OPTIONS>PREFERENCES, select
Show source frame numbers on events thumbnails as <timecode>

Although that does show a timecode in 100ths of a frame instead of frame count

Creating EDL in VegasPro is generally a waste of time. Seek a different kind of workflow.

On the other hand VegasPro and plug-ins have lots of timecode options and timecode tracking in Vegas is generally far easier to accomplish than in other NLE's. But don't look for the timecode to be usable outside of the Vegas workflow.

Timecode is issued by several cameras but it is the inherent nature of the codec - rather than the hardware that will determine ease of use in VegasPro.
