Time code issues

Trying to generate source timecode window. Done this many times in the past but this time there is a descrepancy between the window code and the code reflected on the same shot in the trimmer. Discrepancy is as much as 8 seconds although some are around 6 seconds - not a constant offset. Working with mini-DV down-converts of HDCAM and HDV. Timecode is supposedly "cloned" from the HD sources. Using latest build of Vegas with project set to 29.97 non-drop as are the source tapes. I assumed that I was the weak link in the chain but I'm beginning to suspect something may be wrong with the down-coverted mini-DVs. Thoughts anyone? Thanx.

I believe there is a time code drift on HDV - I found info on it a while back ond posted it a thread...I will see if I can find it again.

EDIT - Found some of the threads -
HDV Timecode strangeness

OT: Not really - HDV pre "roll" and "stuff"

I'm aware that TC is sort of bogus with HDV however that does not explain why on my mini-DV down-converts (SD) the HDCAM is farther off (6-8 seconds) then the HDV (about 4 secs.) When double-click a clip > open in trimmer, the in/out in the trimmer are different than the TC window. BTW, TC plug is applied in the media pool. Thanks for the input.
