Time Code start PTT

Hi all,
When I PTT, and I use 45 seconds color bar, and 15 seconds black, i never seem to get the footage to start at the minute.. it's always 1 second too early or sometimes 2, or sometimes too late..
I know there was a dialogue box where you could set the delay, but I can't find it anymore..
Does anyone have the same problem? I want my clients to have a tape where their movies start at the minute, or 2 minutes or whatever, but I neverget it right!
thx
Mark

Perfectly frame accurate print to tape over 1394 is not posiible- you can get close but its not 100% reliable. Not just us.

Does your deck (or camera) have a makeTC function? If so, use that to define what timecode is written when the deck kicks into record. Don't forget to subtract any bars/tone/slate time values from your desired program start TC.

It's the Sony DSR-11.. So if I tell that machine to start writing timecode it goes like:

- tell vegas to start PTT at 00.00.00.00.. en tell the deck the same?
Then in the timeline when the event start at 00.02.00.00. it should be sync?

thx

I don't have a DSR11 sitting right here but here's how it works on the 1500a if I want my program to start at 01.00.00;00 (DF):

Set timecode to use internal preset (usually called "I-PRS" in the deck menu).

Set TCG (timecode generator) to 00:59:30:00. This value is used because I am going to print from the Vegas timeline with 20 secs of bars and tone, then 10 sec black, before program start (you specify these values in the PTT dialog).

That's it- just tried it- first frame of program video is hour 1.
