TIME DISPLAY ON BLURAY PLAYER

Hello,
I have produced some Blurayl BD-RE discs for review on my Bluray player before final editing. The problem I have is that using the same individual disc some projects will produce a time display on the Bluray player yet other will not.
All video was taken on the same camera and edited using Pro 12.
Can anybody offer me any assistance with this, please?

If you need to have a time display on the screen for someone to review and give you notes, you should apply the timecode effect on the timeline in Vegas. Then all disks will have the same display and be consistent. Otherwise, each player is different.

In Vegas, in the header for the video track, click on the little green plugin chainer icon. Choose "Sony Timecode". Render. The output will have the timecode burned in. If you don't have a solid track full of video, or you have titles or inserts on a higher track, you may wish to apply it to the plugin chain in the preview window instead, to ensure it shows up throughout the entire video.

Just remember to either remove the timecode plugin or disable it before rendering the finished version!

Hello,
Sorry to bother you again,but I now have a supplementary question.
Is it possible to apply "Sony Timecode" to all clips simultaneously or does it have to be applied one at a time? "Select events to end" does not seem to work. Also is it possible to get a cumulative timecode for the whole project?

Both methods i mentioned apply it to the entire project rather than individual events.

I am not sure of what the OP JohnJ may have been asking in his original post, although it seems that he was after source timecode.

However, it is important to note that the phrasing of his original question, had an implication of player display of runtime. This is an ability for some set-top players but not all. And how the display in managed is yet different with set-top player's various firmware. Generally it is runtime code of the disc program duration.

A couple years ago all my DVD players came up dead so i replaced them all as cheaply as possible, getting a $34 Sony model at WalMart. Turns out that while all of them can display current program run time, they ONLY do it while paused. As soon as i restart playback the display goes away.

The OP's question was about getting editing choices from the end viewers. Since it's a project already on the timeline, having project time is a very useful way to go about this. It should be note though when using such information for making further cuts, it's best to start and the end and work forward toward the beginning, since each cut changes the timing of everything downline.
