Time Stretch Timeline Markers

For some reason I've lost the feature to show the small triangular makers that indicate 1x, 2x, 3x multiples of length when Cntl-Stretching a video event. They still show when I do a simple stretch. I'm sure there's a simple setting to fix this but can't find it. I know there are some workarounds but I miss the markers.

When you hold down CTRL, you aren't changing the contents of the event - you're just making it go slower or faster. You will only see those when you "resize" the event - not change the speed of the event. So, yes, you will see them when you resize without CTRL but you won't see those when you "change speed" by holding down CTRL.

@jetdv I understand that. I want to Cntl stretch my event to exactly half the original speed. For example, I have a 29.97 fps project. I add a 59.94 fps event and want to stretch it so it is exactly 2x (to SloMo it) and matches the project properties. btw, I'm on Vegas 22 build 250. I'm pretty sure (but wouldn't bet my life on it) that older versions of Vegas would show these markers on a Cntl-stretch.

@amendegw Instead of manually stretching, you can add the 59,94 fps event at Project framerate, which is 29,97 fps. Right mouse click 59,94 fps event in project media tab and choose:

Event is added to timeline exactly at 2x times slomo.

I just tried Vegas Pro 13 and it didn't.

One method I've used is to switch the project Ruler to Absolute Frames and just do the math. Then, I switch it back and fix any bugs I caused. This works for non-integer speed changes.

And the other work-around I've used is make a regular stretch out to 2x, place marker there. Then repeat with a control stretch to the marker. But, I'd really like to see the markers on a Cntl-stretch.

@amendegw I think you mixing something up. There are no "control markers" when you time stretch an event. Your mentioned "control markers" only show up when you resize an event beyond its original size. After that marker the event will repeat or freeze (depending on setting in preferences).

For easy 2x timestretching, try the option I mentioned.

Here's another way - right-click the video event and choose Properties. Now change to "Playback Rate" to 200% or 300%. That will change the speed the desired amount but the event on the timeline will NOT change length. But after doing this, there WILL be the notches so you can then resize it down to the notch.

Alternately, use a script! Using a script you can definitely have it calculate 1/2 or 1/3 of the time and change the length and playback rate at the same time.
