Timecode of clips

Is there any way within Vegas 6 to determine the original recorded timecode of .m2t clips recorded into Vegas?

If you do a search you will find some threads about timecode and HDV footage. I think you may get a time code but it may be off because of the way HDV cameras record and how that comes into the system. Peter had some issues with the Z1 so maybe he can jump in here as well.
