Timecode on tape

How do you capture the timecode onto the tape and have it displayed when you capture video into vegas. Let me explain. I have a sony camcorder that captures time code and the date and other information. I would like to put the time code onto the capture video so that when I render the file to let's say a avi, someone can see the informaion. I would like to also know how to capture the date and time and other informaion from a mini-dv camcorder and have it seen on the screen or captured file. Thanks in advance.

More and more people are asking that same question, hence the suggestion that you make the suggestion at SoFo's suggestion site. Thats just a suggestion, mind you.

Not only do people want to be able to SEE the time AND date codes on the timeline, but they want them to be preserved on the output DV. Both visible (showing during playback) and not, they want the ORIGINAL timecodes preserved.

You can currently display TC by dropping the TC FX onto the clip in the media pool. (V4)

You can currently copy the datestamp from the media properties into the text generator for a datestamp.
